The rise of a "CONFIDENT" race

Till the dawn of the last century the world was known as White and Black, until the Yellow and the Brown worked overtime in their bedrooms(not particularly, Dining Rooms and Kitchen floors have become a debated favorite these days) to ensure that they held claim to a majority the coveted numbers. Today, the Chinese hold claim to 1.3 Billion living human beings on the planet and "WE" are closely on their heels with 1.1 Billion. Not bad I must say, considering the fact we have a tag that reads loud...."Morally Orthodox Republic" of India.

Now, the Chinese have always been a bold and rather brash race without a great deal of Creativity. "WE" have been the race who loved to sit and glorify their heydays. Aryabhatta created the ZERO, Indus Valley was the Manhattan of the Bronze Age, The large rock on the Queen's crown...well, that belonged to us too. A rather pompous PAST has always been our PRESENT. What we were never called was Confident. There have been exceptions but as a race....Not really. Rajnikanth invented the art of defying Physics even before Hong Kong developed cable suspension action. But as a race, we loved to play it safe.

The perception of Confidence was different in India until lately. A month ago I was blessed to have been shown this video made by an aspiring group of guys. A music video which by any standards is spectacularly path breaking. I am not being hyperbolic here, but this was stuff that could pave way for a new form of revolution. It wasn't the content of this form of art that was brilliant but the audacity of a bunch of guys who were ripped off talent along with their umbilical cords. They toiled hard to produce a music video that was instantly subject to reactions I thought never existed in some people. SILSILA...A tune in Malayalam titled in Hindi...Crossover stuff?? Even better....

Now for those of you who survived to read this...Keep Reading.

The comments section of this particular "gem" has more messages for the composer's mom than himself. Some of them are indeed funny but in Malayalam. Let me translate one, but in a manner that adheres to socially accepted tongue, "Oh, thou born of a female canine. My little brother fears to go back to sleep thinking of recurring dreams of your capped appearance. He has off late shamelessly indulged in stoning simple pedestrians who dare wear a cap. I swear my revenge oh 'lustful lover of your mother'. I shalt adorn thy buttocks with a bomb someday".

Never in Malayalam-POP(Hmmmm, do we have such an industry?) history has there been a more famous composition. But what we all ignored was how genuinely famous these guys turned out to be. I would part with my best friend's arm and leg to get hold of their next album. I am quite sure that all of you would too. "Soooo-BAD-that-you-hate-it-but-curiously-waiting-for-their-next" is what this phenomenon is. Their sheer confidence to have this out on social media has actually landed them a place our minds. I'm sure that this isn't the last we hear of these guys.

Forget thy talent but believe in yourself and the rest is SILSILAAAAA....
